ST. LOUIS – April Tyler Motte sense would be able to play with the Custom Blackhawks Jersey. Therefore, forward decided to give up his senior season of Michigan and signed a three-year entry-level deal.
It seems Motte made the right call.
As the Blackhawks head into the final stretch in the camp, appears Motte certainly bet to make the opening night roster as any prospect in the camp. He has impressed so far at both ends of the ice, and the figures have a role to play when the Blues face Chicago at the United Center on Wednesday night.
“There is always time to go back to school to finish a degree but really, there’s a chance here now and in the near future, in my opinion, was too hard to pass up,” Motte said.
Motte has a number of perspectives, such as Alexandre Fortin, Nick Schmaltz and Vincent Hinostroza who are fighting for the final spots on the “Hawks” list, along with veterans Dennis Rasmussen, a former Detroit Red Wing Jordin Tootoo and Andrew Desjardins.
Motte that he feel any extra strain to perform, if he makes the team to start the season.
“If they trust you and give you the chance to make the team and play in the NHL, it’s your job to take advantage of it,” Motte said. “Whether it’s killing penalties, playing eight to 10 minutes a night, or even 15, it’s your job to make the best of what you have given.”
Motte earned up to the difference between playing in the left wing Patrick Kane Jersey and center Artem Anisimov coach Joel Quenneville trying to determine what line combinations could prove the preseason.
“They are doing the best to play, and it is a kind of luxury you need to go against these guys practice and play with them, learn from them every day,” Motte said. “(Kane) sees the ice so well, you just kind of go out there and try to complete it in any way you can, whether it is to run the net, giving them more ice to work with.”
Motte hopes he has the chance to share the ice with their regular season.
